About Us

Our Brand Journey

At Purl and Peace, we believe making is more than creating—it’s a practice of flow, presence, and connection. Just as water moves with grace and resilience, the rhythm of fiber arts offers us a way to slow down, breathe, and reconnect. Our patterns and resources are designed to nurture both skill and spirit, blending timeless craft with mindful living.

We aim to offer incredible quality designs, thoughtful education, and a collaborative community where knitters and makers can find not just patterns, but also peace, encouragement, and belonging. Whether you’re casting on your very first stitches or seeking a project that carries deeper meaning, Purl and Peace is here to support your journey.

Why Murigen?

Most people know me as Lori, but in the knitting world, you’ll find me under the name Murigen, a name deeply rooted in my Celtic heritage.

The word comes from the Old Irish muir (sea) and gen (born), meaning born of the sea. In Irish legend, the mermaid Lí Ban was baptized and became Murigen—a symbol of transformation and the deep connection between water and spirit.

That story resonates with me, not only because of my Irish, Scottish, and Welsh ancestry, but also because water has always been a part of my life as a sailor, swimmer, and seeker of flow. Creating with fiber reflects those same lessons I’ve learned from the sea: patience, adaptability, and movement with purpose.

As an artist at heart with a lifelong journey of creating, I’ve chosen fiber as my medium. I love the textures and colors of yarn, and I love how the process of knitting or crochet transforms into wearable art that carries both story and soul. Murigen is the name that captures that spirit—a way of honoring my ancestry, my love of water, and the creative flow that guides all I make.

My Philosophy

I’ve always believed that creativity is most powerful when it supports the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. With a background in psychology, mindfulness, and functional wellness, I bring a holistic perspective to the craft of making. Knitting for me is more than art—it is meditation, resilience, and connection woven into every row.

Purl and Peace is built on that philosophy: that the act of creating with fiber can be a source of healing, balance, and joy. Each pattern is an invitation to slow down, find presence, and let the flow of the stitches bring both beauty and calm into daily life.

At Purl and Peace, every stitch is a chance to embrace flow, create beauty, and carry peace into the everyday.
